Gas Standards for Explosive Concentration Monitors

Gas Standards

Gas standard mixtures are an accurate method for calibration of explosive concentration monitors. They are stable and provide a repeatable reference concentration that can be used for regular calibrations.

Each gas standard contains accurately-weighed component.

Mixtures are available for explosive concentration monitors with the following components:

The compositions listed are 50% LEL

Gaseous Species

Matrix

Amount Fraction Range
(mol/mol)

Methane Air 2.2×10-2
Hydrogen Air 2.0×10-2
Propane Air 0.91×10-2

NPL's gas standards are certified for a period up to five years depending on the stability of the mixture. NPL offers a cost-effective re-certification service after the initial certification period has expired, ensuring temporal consistency of gas traceability.
