The Large Hadron Collider Project
Further Information
Recorded: 12 December 2012
Speaker: Andy Parker
The talk will review the recent announcement of the discovery of a "Higgs-like" boson at the LHC, and discuss some of the experimental challenges in observing this new particle and elucidating its nature.
The standard model still contains many open questions, and some of the work to investigate new physics phenomena in the TeV range will also be discussed, such as the possibility that strong gravitational interactions could occur in models with extra space dimensions.
