Emerging technologies based on multiferroic materials

Further Information

Recorded: 24 February 2011

Speaker: Dr Melvin Vopson, NPL

Related: Multiferroic Materials

The aim of this talk is to briefly introduce some key aspects of multiferroic materials, followed by a discussion of their possible applications with emphasis on magnetic recording technologies.

Multiferroics are an interesting class of mainly solid-state materials that exhibit multiple types of long range ordering: magnetic, electric and elastic. Due to their complex properties these materials are suitable for applications in advanced technologies offering enhanced functionality of sensors and devices.
