NPL offers a complete service, accredited by UKAS to ISO 17025, for the sampling and analysis of complex VOC mixtures ranging from source emissions to ambient concentrations.

Sample collection and analysis techniques include: passivated canisters, pumped or passive sorbent tubes, automated thermal desorption (ATD), gas chromatography (GC) and mass spectrometry (MS).

NPL also offers a specialised service for surveying contaminated land using soil probes. The probes facilitate sampling of underground VOCs onto sorbent tubes. These soil probes have been used at a number of commercial premises including: petrol filling stations, chemical works and refineries.
