What is the Mutual Recognition Agreement/Arrangement? (FAQ - Length)

This is an arrangement amongst the majority of the world's National Metrology Institutes (including NPL, NIST, PTB etc) whereby each institute agrees to recognise measurement standards and calibration and measurement certificates issued by other signatories of the agreement. Effectively this means that the National Standards covered by the agreement are metrologically equivalent to each other. For further information see http://www.euromet.org/cipm_mra/.
