NPL calibrates humidity sensors designed to operate at high pressures and within mixtures of gases.

Humidity sensors (hygrometers) can give variable results depending on other properties of the gas they are measuring in and are often designed to work best in air, at atmospheric pressure. Developing humidity calibration standards for different conditions is important for industry, where humidity measurements are required in harsher environments.
