The ability to accurately measure temperature above 1000 °C is critical to maintaining tight process control in many environments e.g. steel, glass, space, aerospace and semiconductor industries.
The robustness of a new Pt/Pd thermocouple design that has been developed (by NPL [1]) was recently tested in a industrial calibration facility (at CCPI-Europe).
The work reported here shows that no significant drift is observed in the calibration output of the Pt/Pd thermocouple, when exposed to either conditions.
