In order to effectively test a Power Quality Analyser for compliance to the IEC/EN 61000 standards, one needs to replicate the power conditions that are onsite.

Fluctuating current harmonics injected into the public electricity supply are an inevitable
consequence of appliances with varying duty cycles, see Figure 1.

An effective methodology was developed at NPL to create and measure steady state and fluctuating current waveforms.
