Download the 'Radiation monitoring strategy' activity and test out your knowledge.
To take part in this activity, click the 'Download ZIP' link on. Once downloaded onto your computer, extract the contents, and then double click on the Half Life.exe file. This will then open the activity.
The ionisation current in a chamber containing radon gas is measured as time progresses. The participant can record the value of the current at various time intervals. When enough data has been gathered, the graph will enable the participant to determine the half life of the radioactive decay.
The participant can then compare the value they obtained with that known by the computer.
