Further guidance
You now know the basics of uncertainty estimation. You will need further guidance before you can put this knowledge into practice, the next level of reading is NPL Measurement Good Practice Guide 11 ‘A Beginner’s Guide to Uncertainty of Measurement’. Detailed guidelines on how to make a correct and thorough analysis are given in the document M3003 ‘The Expression of Uncertainty and Confidence in Measurement’ published by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).
Remember:
It is as important to minimise uncertainties as it is to quantify them. Good measurement practice helps reduce them. Please refer to the Introduction to Measurement module.
