Design method
- Conventional methods to produce a technical drawing

-
Modern computer aided design (CAD) - enables designers to make quick and accurate drawings with the use of a computer, to construct a 3-D representation of the component that can be viewed from many angles to check functionality and appearance.
A modern designer will also utilise finite element analysis (FEA) and mathematical modelling to fulfil design requirements and product specifications.
FEA - software analysis predicts how structures and materials respond to environmental factors such as forces, heat and vibration.
