Tim Young
Current interests

Tim Young is currently involved in the development of techniques for measuring the mechanical properties and microstructural properties of composite and nanocomposite materials, with particular interests in developing non-destructive evaluation and condition monitoring techniques.
Biography
Tim graduated with an Engineering Doctorate in Micro- and Nanomaterials and Technologies based at NPL with the University of Surrey in 2012, where his thesis was on the characterisation of interfaces in micro- and nano-composites. He was previously awarded a Master of Engineering Degree (Hons) with major in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Surrey in 2006.
Tim's expertise is in the microstructural characterisation of the physical and mechanical properties of polymeric composites. The techniques covered have included Atomic Force Microscopy, various Electron Microscopies and Mechanical Testing.
Tim is a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
