Biography

Steve joined NPL in 2006 from an engineering background and initially worked in the Optical Technology group (Engineering Measurement) calibrating various customer artefacts, gaining an NPL award for reducing turnaround time of work undertaken. Using his engineering skills he was heavily involved in the project Physics of Perception - Naturalness - Touch & Vision, gaining an award for the best summer display from The Royal Society.

Moving to the Surface & Nanoanalysis group he has been involved in the development of organic multi-layer reference materials, which allows comparisons between different laboratories. Steve has also worked on UK landfill sites, detecting methane emissions by means of soil samples, wind speed/direction and borehole gas samples, gaining an NPL award for the work carried out.Selected Publications.
