Robert Goddard

Robert Goddard is currently responsible for the calibration of ultrasound hydrophones, including membrane, needle, probe and fibre optic types in the range between 100 kHz to 60 MHz. He also has experience in the manufacture of tissue mimicking materials. He has an interest in science and mathematics plus materials testing and analysis.


Robert has been at NPL since 2007 and was previously at QinetiQ in Farnborough as a Materials Scientist for 16 years. In this role he acquired an HNC in Materials Technology from Southall Technical College. A former member of the Institute of Materials, he has a Quality Assurance Diploma from Guildford Technical College. He spent six years practising Quality Control for the First Technology Group who specialised in the manufacture of motor crash switches and security devices.

Role in group

In his current role at NPL as an Assistant Research Scientist, Robert undertakes calibrations and produces graphs and certificates for customers. He is UKAS accredited to perform these tasks.
