Richard Barham
Current interests

Dr Richard Barham has research interests in electroacoustics applied to both metrology for airborne sound, and to novel acoustic measurement. He is currently investigating the role of MEMS microphones in noise measurement, and in particular where MEMS-based systems foster new uses of acoustic measurement or expand the possibilities of established practices.
Richard is a member of the Audio Engineering Society as well as a regular contributor to activities of the Institute of Acoustics.
Biography
Having received a BSc degree from the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research,Southampton University, Richard continued with academic pursuits while working at NPL, receiving his PhD in 1995 for work on primary free-field calibration of microphones. Richards career at NPL now spans more than 25 years. He is also an active member of the IEC Technical Committee on Electroacoustics, convening the working group on measurement microphones, as well as taking an active part in working groups on ear simulators and audiometric equipment, and on hearing thresholds in the ISO Technical Committee on Acoustics.
