Biography

Petra is a Research Scientist within the Advanced Engineered Materials group at NPL. She was awarded a Master's degree in Materials Engineering from the Slovak University of Technology, Bratislava. Since joining NPL in 2008 Petra has worked with a wide range of materials and has experience with a variety of characterisation techniques.

These include thermophysical property measurements by laser flash technique, microstructural characterisation (comprising optical microscopy, 3D optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and image analysis), associated metallography and hardness testing (comprising microhardness, Rockwell and Vickers measurements). These techniques are used both for research projects (including Metrofission) and providing commercial services.
