Peter Sharpe
Current interests

Peter Sharpe is leading research and development in chemical dosimetry techniques for radiotherapy and industrial applications. Current interests include the development of small alanine dosimeters to validate dose distributions in complex three dimensional radiotherapy treatments and the study of dosimeters for use at cryogenic temperatures in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries.
Biography
Peter graduated with a degree in chemistry from the University of Manchester in 1972 and gained an MSc in photochemistry in 1973 and a PhD in radiation chemistry in 1976. He is currently chair of Section I of the BIPM/CIPM Consultative Committee on Ionising Radiation (CCRI) and chair of the Dosimetry Group of the Panel on Gama and Electron Irradiation. He is also heavily involved with ASTM and ISO committees developing standards for dosimetry and process control in the radiation processing industry. Peter is a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Radiation Physics and Chemistry and was a member of the working group responsible for writing ICRU Report 80 'Dosimetry Systems for Use in Radiation Processing', published in 2008.
