Woodger worked at the Ministry of Supply from 1943-1945, before being temporarily appointed to NPL’s Maths Division in 1946. He was Turing’s assistant before becoming a Scientific Officer and working on the Test Assembly and the Pilot ACE. He went on to work in programming, working on the design of ALGOL and Ada among other research. Throughout his life he collected documents about the early NPL computers, which are now stored in the Science Museum, and include papers on Pilot ACE and ACE itself.
