Current interests

Dr Kevin Lees is currently leading work on Electromagnetic Material measurement (including dielectrics, ferroelectric and multiferroic materials), using coplanar waveguide devices. He is currently a work package leader on two EU funded projects EMINDA and VSMMART.

His research interests include:

  • CNT characterization
  • 3D EM modelling
  • Metamaterials Characterization
  • Dielectric Material Measurement from 1 MHz to 110 GHz
  • Scanning Microwave Microscopes

Kevin is also responsible for running the dielectrics measurement service.

Biography

Kevin completed a BSc double honours degree in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Southampton in 1995.

His PhD, 'Investigations into the Development of Smart Polymer Materials for Applications in Radar Absorbing Structures', was undertaken at the Electronics Department at the University of Sheffield and was sponsored by DERA Malvern (now QinetiQ). Kevin is a Chartered Physicist. He has worked at NPL since 1999.
