Biography

Julia Doff

Julia Doff gained her undergraduate Masters degree in Chemistry (MChem, 2008) from the University of Oxford (St Hugh's College). Her thesis looked at the detection of neurotransmitters at modified diamond electrodes. She completed her PhD in the Corrosion & Protection Centre in the School of Materials at the University of Manchester in March 2012. Her research, sponsored by an industrial CASE Award with Waters Corporation, looked at the surface modification of ion transfer components for use in mass spectrometers, and included modification of the naturally-formed passive film on stainless steel using square wave pulse polarisation.

Julia joined NPL's Electrochemistry Group in April 2012 as a Higher Research Scientist, working with Gareth Hinds on corrosion research, mainly related to the oil and gas industry.
