Hilary Elliott
Role

Hilary Elliott works as Operations Manager for the Centre for Carbon Measurement and oversees NPL's work programme in the Low Carbon and Climate Science area.
As Operations Manager, Hilary has responsibility for:
- Ensuring successful coordination and delivery of the technical work programme for the Centre through key partnerships
- Implementing the operational infrastructure by which the Centre will be delivered
Biography
Having graduated from the University College Cork, Ireland, with a BSc and MSc in Chemistry, Hilary went on to complete her PhD in Materials Chemistry at Edinburgh University, Scotland, with specific focus on Environmental Sensors. From there she joined NPL in 2001 as a researcher into Single Molecule Detection techniques.
During her years at NPL, Hilary has delivered a number of roles, including Higher Researcher; Operational Project and Programme Manager; Programme Formulator; Strategic Research Manager; Executive Strategy Manager; and Group Leader. In all of those roles she has had responsibility for overseeing work programmes of both national and international significance. Hilary has also undertaken secondments to relevant UK government policy units during her time at NPL.
Hilary has been in her role as Operations Manager for Low Carbon and Climate Science for two years, during which time she has managed the development of NPL's proposition to establish a Centre for Carbon Measurement, which formally launched on 26 March 2012.
