Current Interests

Motivated by a comment that "NPL was one of the UK's best-kept scientific secrets", Fiona Auty has made it a personal mission to make NPL's research more accessible and understandable to all. She is driven by demonstrating the impact that measurement science has on our everyday lives and the desire to inspire future generations of scientists. Fiona is particularly interested in NPL's role in the local community and regularly provides talks to external groups.

Fiona is NPL's Head of Communications and oversees externally focused communications campaigns covering PR, websites, events, branding, social media, educational outreach and communications training.

Biography

Fiona has worked at NPL in a variety of roles from marketing and knowledge transfer to training and impact assessment, and took on the role of Head of Communications in 2004. Fiona has also worked closely with Serco, BIS and Defra delivering multi-million pound communications campaigns to business.

Fiona has a Graduate Diploma from the Chartered Management Institute, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
