Current interests

Elly Martin

Elly Martin currently works on medical ultrasound with in the Acoustics group. Her work includes measurement of temperature in High Intensity Focused Ultrasound fields using thermal test objects and infrared imaging, modelling of ultrasonic field propagation and measurement services for hydrophone and radiation force balance calibrations.

Biography

Elly graduated with an MSci degree in Physics with Astrophysics from the University of Bristol in 2004. In 2006, she received an MSc in Medical Physics from the University of Exeter as part of a two-year IPEM medical physics training scheme with the NHS in Bristol, during which time she worked on ultrasound, radiotherapy physics and diagnostic radiology physics. She received a PhD from the School of Physics, University of Exeter, in 2010 for work on the effects of ultrasound on the cells of the vascular wall. Elly began work at NPL in January 2011. She is a member of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, the Institute of Physics and the British Medical Ultrasound Society.
