Elizabeth Legge

Elizabeth Legge

Higher scientist

Elizabeth Legge is a Higher Scientist in the Surface Technology group. She joined the group as a PhD student in July 2016 and became a staff member in October 2020.

Elizabeth’s work is focussed on research involving the use of nanoparticles, particles, and nanomaterials, predominantly for applications in medicine or applications involving the use of graphene. Her work mainly uses Raman spectroscopy techniques, including confocal, transmission and tip-enhanced, as well as stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM), to study chemical and topographical properties.

Elizabeth is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Elizabeth’s PhD was in Electronic Engineering at NPL and the University of Surrey and focussed on the physicochemical characterisation of graphene for industrial applications, including work on graphene for conductive thin films, nanocomposites and biosensors.
