Edward Newman

Edward NewmanNewman worked as a research physicist at EMI Ltd, in radar and television, before being appointed to NPL's Electronics Section (Radio Division) in 1947.

He worked a great deal on the ACE computer, contributing to the plans for the ACE before then moving to work on the electronic design for the Pilot ACE. His work at NPL continued even after the ACE computer, moving on to teaching machines, reliability of computers and then speech and visual pattern recognition.
