David Crossley

Senior scientist

David graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Combined Science, Physics and Chemistry, from Brighton Polytechnic in 1985. Joining NPL shortly graduation, David has been involved in various aspects of chemical dosimetry including, principally, Fricke, dichromate and alanine as well various routine dosimetry systems. David has undertaken a number of internal investigations, for example Gammachrome YR, Thin Alanine Films, Alanine dosimetry at 100kGy, and Gel dosimetry.

Areas of interest

David Crossley is working in the chemical dosimetry area, in particular with the NPL alanine and dichromate reference dosimetry systems. He is also involved with high-dose cobalt-60 irradiation facilities and related routine dosimetry systems. David provides advice on the use of all these systems and manages the regular intercomparisons for dosimetry systems at industrial radiation levels. He has responsibility for maintaining the equipment and facilities that ensure the provision of these systems.
