Biography

Chris Brookes has been employed at NPL for the last 45 years and initially worked in the fields of acoustics, temperature measurement, high temperature gas physics and new temperature standards. For the last 30 years he has been involved in preparing, validating, and disseminating gas standards of accurately known concentrations, which underpin UK and international measurements of environmental, occupational exposure, emission-level air quality, and breath-alcohol.

He has also been involved in many international intercomparisons of gas standards in which NPL was the host, and also with the NPL as a participant. In all cases NPL was proved to be a world leader in this field of Gas Metrology.
