Arthur Vie

Arthur Vie joined NPL in the summer of 2015 as a junior scientist on their apprenticeship scheme. He is a college leaver from Tiffin School Sixth Form, having studied Physics, Maths and Design Technology to full A level and Chemistry to AS level. For the first nine months of the programme he was working in the Electromagnetic Technologies department. During this time he undertook a research project studying the performance of the NPL's gigahertz TEM cell and the feasibility of using it to calibrate band selective electric field meters. The research was done with the intent of being able to provide this as a new aspect of the department's measurement services.

Currently, Arthur is working in the Composite Materials Group on an instrument development project, namely a device to monitor the department's mechanical test machines and alert the users as to the status of their tests or when they are completed.
