Biography

Ali Rae obtained a MChem in Chemistry with Materials Chemistry from The University of Edinburgh in 2012 with a Master's thesis entitled 'An investigation into Nonphotochemical Laser-Induced Nucleation in the system of Potassium Chloride'. During which, the first instance of a phase transition induced by an evanescent wave was observed.

Prior to joining the NPL's Surface and Nanoanalysis group, Ali worked on the elemental and thermal characterisation of high performance inorganic materials within the defence industry.
