So-called gonio-apparent materials are materials whose visual appearance changes significantly depending on the angle at which they are illuminated or viewed. They include, for example, metallic paint finishes, lustre pigments and interferometric coatings.

NPL offers a range of consultancy services for such materials, including capabilities for full hemispherical multi-angular (0.5º steps) and multi-spectral (380 nm - 780 nm) measurements of flat surfaces.

Clients will receive an NPL report (available as both electronic and hard copy).
