The Test of Time
NPL's Anne Curtis was interviewed for BBC Radio 4's 'The Test of Time' show, broadcast on Tuesday, 8th September at 3.45 pm.
Dr Anne Curtis, Senior Research Scientist in NPL's Quantum Frequency Standards Group, was approached by BBC Radio to take part in Radio 4’s 'The Test of Time' show, broadcast on Tuesday, 8th September at 3.45 pm.
The show invited scientists to look back at their ancient forebears and examine how much of that early knowledge still stands the test of time. Anne was involved, along with Eleanor Robson from the British Museum, looking at the measurement of time in the Babylonian era and the origins of 'base 60'.
The five-part series is on BBC Radio 4 every day at 3.45 pm, starting on Monday, 7th September, and includes Professor Iain Hutchison on Sushruta's nasal surgery; Professor Gus McGrouther on Mesopotamian healing; Professor Graeme Meadment on Egyptian methods of cooling; and Gabrielle Walker on Aristotle's meteorology.
