Representatives from NPL were invited to celebrate the royal opening of thermocouple manufacturer CCPI's new production and research centre.

CCPI's move to new facilities has effectively tripled their production capacity, which will help towards meeting the increased demand for their products.

The new facilities were officially opened by HRH The Duke of Kent. NPL's Managing Director, Brian Bowsher, attended the opening, along with Graham Machin, who is an NPL Science Fellow specialising in temperature measurement.

Graham gave a presentation to HRH about NPL, in particular how we have worked with CCPI - helping them to achieve world-leading measurement uncertainties at 1330 °C. CCPI have also licensed NPL's know-how for the construction of robust ultra-low drift thermocouples.
