Professional Engineering covers NPL's history
Following a visit to the NPL Open House event in March 2012, Professional Engineering magazine has published an article outlining the history of NPL.
The article explains the reasoning behind the founding of NPL in 1900 and some of the important research that was carried out here throughout the nineteenth century, including the building of the world's first accurate caesium atomic clock and the development of packet switching, which forms the basis of complex computer communications systems.
