UK Space Conference 2013

Five decades since the UK became the third space-faring nation with the launch of satellite Ariel 1, the industry now contributes £9.1bn per year to the UK economy and employs 29,000 people.

The 2013 UK Space conference will take place in Glasgow on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 July. NPL will be exhibiting at the conference, as well as presenting papers and hosting a table at the conference dinner and award ceremony. The event will focus on realising the UK's ambitions in space - including making a global impact with science and research, contributing to the UK's economic growth by developing new commercial applications and businesses, and developing the interactions between these activities.

NPL collaborates with people around the world who want to use technology to explore the Universe, monitor the Earth or communicate globally. For over 40 years, we have worked with space companies and agencies, providing innovation in measurement research, technology and services.

The latest edition of Insights - Beyond measurement explores recent developments in the UK space industry and advances in earth observation, navigation, telecommunications, astronomy and space exploration. It also looks at the critical role that measurement has to play in the success of space missions.
