NPL signs MoU with Aerotech
The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and Aerotech have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support NPL's development of bespoke measurement instruments.
This non-exclusive partnership will allow NPL to draw on Aerotech's vast experience in precision motion control to deliver upcoming instrument development projects. An example is the development of a new length standard facility at NPL which will provide faster and more accurate calibration of primary length artefacts for industry. By delivering more instruments jointly with a range of delivery partners, NPL is increasing the uptake of R&D into technologies and products for industry, academia, and government.
Aerotech is donating ultra-precision motion stages and control systems to Kingston College, to be used in training for NPL's Engineering Apprentice programme. Apprentices will make use of the equipment in classes to learn principles of motion control, software programming and engineering design.
