New Dimensional Measurement e-Learning course

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has launched a new dimensional metrology e-Learning course, providing a comprehensive introduction to the subject and exploring its relevance to all stages of the engineering process.

Dimensional Measurement e-Learning

Dimensional Measurement: Measurement User improves measurement behaviours and supports good measurement practice. The course is targeted at measurement professionals and their management; students, apprentices, graduate engineers; and wider audiences with an interest in dimensional measurement. Early implementation of the right measurement behaviours can save companies both time and money in the long run.

This course is composed of six interactive modules, through which users progress at their own pace, accessing HD video lessons, multimedia presentations, exercises, and undertaking formal assessment to gain certification. The flexible e-Learning approach means that users can access the course at their own convenience, on their computers, tablets and smartphones.

Three modules are currently being offered, allowing users to access NPL's world-leading expertise in Dimensional Measurement, providing training in the field's fundamentals, and underpinning topics such as geometrical tolerancing and tolerance types. Three further modules will cover the principles of measurement supporting measurement strategies, a range of measuring instruments, and the necessary steps for the adoption of a measurement strategy. These modules will be available soon.

Dimensional Measurement is the third e-Learning course to be launched by NPL, following Introduction to Metrology and Introduction to Measurement Uncertainty. A series of text-based units, Measurement Explained, is also available, standing as a precursor to the more extensive e-Learning courses. NPL's commitment to upholding national measurement standards means our training processes are independently reviewed and audited, ensuring we provide UK companies with the best possible service.
