New Advanced Quantum Metrology Laboratory

A planning application for an Advanced Quantum Metrology Laboratory (AQML) at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) has just been submitted. The proposal is to extend the existing Darwin Building (Building 2) to house NPL's new AQML, which will provide a facility that will enable frontier research in the field.

The new facility will use the existing structure of Building 2 and extend it to provide laboratory facilities, as well as office and meeting accommodation.

The AQML will provide a unique scientific environment, enhancing NPL's reputation as a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate measurement standards, science and technology available.
