The realisation of TRUTHS is one of the long term objectives of the Centre for Carbon Measurement at NPL, which aims to reduce uncertainties in climate data, provide the robust measurement that is required to account for, price and trade carbon emissions, and help develop and accelerate the take up of low carbon technologies. It is anticipated that an operational 'TRUTHS-Lite' could be achieved in less than three years, as a showcase for UK technology, a provider of key climate science information, a flagship project encouraging study in key science and engineering skills and as a stepping stone to the implementation of a full TRUTHS mission (or series of missions).
