Chinese Academy of Sciences Fellowship award

Graham Machin

NPL Fellow Graham Machin has been awarded a Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Fellowship.

This highly prestigious and competitive award was conferred in recognition of Dr Machin's world-leading position in and decadal contributions to the science of thermometry.

The award will be presented at the Beijing CAS Technical Institute for Physics and Chemistry (TIPC) in the autumn of 2017, where Graham will give four lectures, develop and extend scientific collaborations with CAS TIPC researchers, and also with those at China's National Institute of Metrology (NIM), with whom Graham's group already has longstanding collaborative research.

Find out more about NPL's Temperature and Humidity research, including: a new technique for producing 3D geometrical and thermal images of satellites during testing and work towards the redefinition of the kelvin.
