Are economic growth and environmental goals at odds?
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, hosted four flagship debates at London House to address the major economic, demographic and technological challenges of the 21st century, one of which was 'The Environment Imperative'.
Jane Burston, Head of the Centre for Carbon Measurement, based at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Teddington, south-west London, was one of the invited guests.
The debate focused on whether growing the economy and mitigating climate change were at odds, and London can develop approaches to climate mitigation, both as an economic response and in shaping the climate for investment in technological responses.
