ANAMET – Measurement Comparison No 961
Description
This exercise compared the complex scattering coefficient measurements, S11, S22 and the product S21 x S12, of two coaxial-to-waveguide adaptors at frequencies of 8.2 GHz, 10 GHz and 12.4 GHz. Both adaptors were Hewlett Packard type HP X281C. The coaxial ports were fitted with 50 ohm Type-N coaxial connectors: one female and one male connector. The waveguide ports were WG16/WR90/R100 (often referred to by microwave engineers as "X-band").
Six organisations chose to participate in the exercise, including four national metrology institutes. The exercise ran, and was completed, during 1997. Generally, agreement between the participants was very good, especially since measurements of this kind are notoriously difficult to make. Very significant differences did occur in the transmission measurements made by two of the participants.
