Audience for this Guide
Who the guide is aimed at
This Guide is for metrologists working on National Measurement System (NMS) programmes and in industry who use signal processing techniques in the course of their work but are themselves not experts in signal processing. It aims to provide them with information that will:
- give a basic introduction to signal processing for metrologists
- help them in choosing the appropriate techniques for particular measurement tasks
- assist in identifying and quantifying the contribution to measurement uncertainties that arise from the use of specific signal processing hardware and software solutions
Who might benefit from reading it
In addition to the audience described above the Guide provides a good introduction to basic signal processing topics, including sampling, quantisation, time domain and frequency domain processing, Fourier Transforms, filtering and filter design, non-stationary signals and wavelets.
