Radiation Dosimetry Group facilities

Theratron
Theratron set up ready for use

NPL maintains a suite of facilities to support the NMS Ionising Radiation Programme, including the provision and development of calibration services, and can provide cost-effective tailored measurement solutions for a range of ionising radiation measurement problems.

NPL's purpose-built facilities for radiation dosimetry include an electron linear accelerator, three X-ray exposure rooms, a suite of gamma irradiators providing dose-rates from environmental to industrial processing levels and chemical reference dosimetry laboratories. These facilities represent one of the world's most comprehensive set of ionising radiation test and calibration facilities.
