Metrology for Solid State Lighting
- Date:
- 23 April 2013 - 25 April 2013
- Description:
This three year EU-funded project supports the widescale adoption of solid state lighting (SSL) through reliable and unambiguous measurement. The results will be presented by researchers from the 14 national measurement institutes participating in the project, covering key issues including: measurement methods and standards; specification and metrics; and perception. The conference will cover these in the following sessions:
Traceability
Development and validation of traceable measurement facilities and traceability routes for SSL, including pulsed efficacy and colour, spectral spatial distribution, near-field geometry and colour rendition, and environmental conditions. Methods
Measurement methods for the characterisation of SSL products including electrical power up to 200 kHz and environmental impact on efficacy.Perception
Human perception of SSL products is different from conventional lighting sources, therefore specific attention is given to colour rendition, visual comfort and mesopic vision.Specifications
The performance of SSL products have been evaluated by laboratory tests and field trials for most typical lighting applications. In addition, new quality metrics have been developed where required, e.g. in street lighting.
