MCERTS

What is MCERTS?

In 1998, the Environment Agency established a rigorous certification scheme for pollution monitoring equipment, based on internationally-accepted performance standards. The MCERTS scheme initially focused on continuous emission monitoring systems. Certified instruments will provide regulators and industry with the best basis with which to monitor releases from industrial processes.

Laboratory tests for MCERTS

NPL has developed a dedicated suite of test and calibration facilities that are accredited under ISO EN 17025 for carrying out instrument tests to the MCERTS standards. These include a variable temperature test cell that can produce accurate concentrations of stack gases and water vapour in simulated stack conditions, and an environmental chamber for testing those parts of the monitoring system exposed to outdoor conditions.
