Engineering Measurement Awareness Network
Vision for EMAN
This network is a means of encouraging knowledge exchange between industry, academia and NPL. In collaboration with other networks, both within NPL and elsewhere in the UK, it aims to address the measurement issues in industry and manufacturing.
What is EMAN?
The network comprises four Special Interest Groups:
- Dimensional - covering coordinate and machine tool metrology, form and surfaces (known as DMAC)
- Force, Torque & Hardness
- Pressmet - covering pressure and vacuum measurement
- Weighing & Density
The activities of the network are steered by members. Although most meetings are related to one of the above special interest group titles, events have been held covering topics ranging from data acquisition, exporting to the US, and materials testing.
Purpose
- To facilitate information flow to enable solutions for engineering measurement problems
- To encourage collaborations between NPL, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, and people making engineering measurements
- For members to influence the direction of the Engineering Measurement Programme at NPL
