Locating success

The NPL-run Location and Timing programme in the Digital Systems Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) has been leading knowledge transfer in this field since 2005.

Locating success

KTNs are funded by the UK government's Technology Strategy Board to promote wealth creation through knowledge transfer inĀ areas where the UK has the potential to exploit nation and international markets. KTNs link the entire supply chain from academic research through to end-users, and provide a point of contact to local and national government. KTNs also provide information on funding sources, disseminate results from development activity and help broker consortia to bid for collaborative projects. The KTNs also facilitate Knowledge Transfer partnerships (KTPs) and can award CASE PhD studentships.

KTNs achieve this through many activities: topical, focused events, seminars and workshops, newsletters, one-to-one meetings, road-mapping and a website. We also work closely with other KTNs and networks, including NPL's own Measurement Network, to extend our reach and provide networking opportunities to members outside their normal range of contacts.

Recent activity includes a major event on privacy (the fourth in a series) and events on GPS jamming and interference, and on technology for indoor location, and an information day on Framework 7 opportunities in satellite navigation and its applications (the third in a series).
