The primary objective of NPL's training courses is to encourage learners to make a difference within their workplaces, giving them the opportunity to generate a return on investment for their employer whilst simultaneously improving corporate measurement capability.

Knowing how to use a measurement tool is not the same as knowing how to use measurement as a tool. As advances in automated technologies have taken place, there has been a reduction in the understanding of accuracy and consistency of measurement. Reliance on automated systems has become too great. By developing an understanding of the basic principles of measurement and a questioning culture with NPL training, identification of false impressions of accuracy and consistency that automation gives will now be reduced. This results in saving time and money for companies through more effective decision-making.

NPL is an EAL Centre offering nationally recognised qualifications in metrology and is validated by the National Skills Academy for Manufacturing.

Training Needs Analysis

NPL can carry out a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) of your staff. This is in addition to NPL’s Accreditation of Prior Learning and Experience (APLE) process to identify the existing skill levels in the Learners.

The process begins with each member of staff being interviewed by an NPL Accredited Trainer. Once complete, the interview will have given the NPL Trainer all of the necessary information to assess the current competency levels and skills sets of the Learner. Recommendations for appropriate training can then be made based on this information and specific outcomes identified and targeted.
