NPL produces and supplies a wide range of temperature standards and sensors for use in industry and calibration facilities. All artefacts are calibrated with traceability to national standards and, with a few exceptions, the calibrations are UKAS (ISO 17025) accredited.

Scientists working in the Temperature & Humidity area have developed a range of innovative instrumentation, in the course of their own research, that has been adapted to meet specific customer applications for commercial and research use. This includes high temperature standards such as the extremely stable and robust Pt/Pd thermocouples for use up to 1500 °C, and high temperature fixed point cells.

Requests have ranged from single units to entire calibration facilities. NPL provides training on the operation of custom-built instrumentation, as well as more general temperature and humidity calibration training and advice.
