Audiometric Calibration

A Listing of National and International Standards Relevant to Audiometry is presented here, under the headings:

  • The BSA Standards Forum was launched at a Special Meeting on Future Standardisation for Audiological Measurements held at the NPL. The intention of the forum is to provide a means for audiological scientists and other interested professionals to influence the development of standards relating to audiology at an early stage. Participation is open to all British Society of Audiology members who wish to have an input into the development of standards relating to audiology. Click here to register.
  • Recommendations for Organising the Calibration of Pure Tone Audiometers were originally prepared by the now disbanded Advisory Committee on Audiological Equipment for the Department of Health and Social Security. Collated to form NPL Acoustics Report Ac 112, they form the basis of the three tier strategy presented in Section 12 "Maintenance and calibration of audiometric equipment" given in ISO 8253-1.
  • Ear Simulators and Hearing Aid Testing gives details of NPLs research and development work in this area. Details of the overall research and development programme for airborne acoustics can be found here.
  • Calibration of Audiometric Equipment gives more information on how NPL calibrates audiometric calibration systems.
  • Training courses are available covering a range of topics relevant to audiometry and its associated standards.
